STUDENTS CREATE RIVER STORIES IN YES ART

In YES Art with Ms Gillis this term students have been looking at the contemporary art works of Ian Abdulla, a Ngarrindjeri man born in the Riverland region of SA. His art depicts the landscape and tells the story of the activities of his region. YES students studied Abdulla’s painting ‘Swimming Before School’ and then painted their own rivers, emulating the pictorial elements he used in his painting. They drew on their own experiences of swimming in the river to tell their stories.
