NEW GENERATION OF JOBS PROMOTED TO STUDENTS
Port Augusta Secondary School students learned of South Australia’s emerging industries and a new generation of jobs when they attended JOBEX in Port Augusta on November 20 at the Central Oval precinct.
Career opportunities and study pathways of the future were showcased to students.
JOBEX is South Australia’s largest free employment and careers exhibition, with more than 120 of the State’s leading businesses showcasing career pathways and job opportunities in emerging industries.
Some of the State’s leading businesses, spanning the five growing sectors of Energy and Mining, Defence and Shipbuilding, Health and Research, IT and Hi-tech and Tourism, Food and Wine, exhibited at the expo.
Businesses included BHP, Solar Reserve, Sundrop Farms, Tesla, Viterra, ZEN Energy, Cavpower, Discovery Parks, SKYCITY Adelaide Casino, Fyfe, Mighty Kingdom and Nyrstar.
Representatives from tertiary institutions, including the University of South Australia, the University of Adelaide, Flinders University and TAFE SA, were available to guide students through how to prepare for a job in one of these growth sectors.
In the Recruitment Zone at JOBEX Port Augusta students could attend practical sessions from recruitment specialists who were on hand to give tips on customising a CV and performing well at job interviews.
Students also had the opportunity to attend seminars and workshops led by industry leaders.
