NEW MANIKIN IN YES HELPING AGED CARE STUDENTS

A new identity has joined the ranks of the YES Centre. Meet ‘Alex’, an elderly patient manikin, who has moved into YES and is helping Aged Care students with patient care simulations. Students are now able to practice and be assessed on several aged care units, with the assistance of Alex. Students will be able to practice and be assessed on making an occupied bed; using slide sheets to manoeuvre a patient up and down a bed; identify wounds on patients, for example bed sores; practice dressing and undressing a patient who needs assistance; and to simulate transporting patients in a hospital bed with an IV attached, or in a wheelchair
